From MERN to Agentic AI

For years the job was the stack: React on the front, Node on the back, MongoDB in the middle. MERN taught me that a boring, well-understood stack wins every time. Agentic AI asks me to unlearn some of that comfort.
Composability first
A component is a function of props; an agent is a function of context. The skill that transfers cleanly is designing small, composable pieces and letting something higher-level wire them together. Good interfaces were always the point.
Context is the new data model
Squeezing everything into one context window is the new version of denormalising a database until it hurts. The disciplined approach is the same one I learned building APIs: keep the surface small, give each step only what it needs, and validate at the edges.

Tools over answers
What changed is where the reliability lives:
- The model proposes; the tool enforces schema and side effects.
- Logging and tracing replace my old debugging loop.
- A scoped system prompt is the new minified bundle.
MERN made me comfortable shipping. Agentic AI made me comfortable shipping something that delegates. Both are the same job: build dependable systems around talented moving parts.
